Why Health Tips?

Yes, you're in the right place, this is a quilting blog, but my prior career was as a nurse practitioner in women's health and as a certified nurse midwife. If I can use that knowledge and experience to help quilters be healthier, why not?

When we take good care of ourselves - physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally - we live fuller lives and I certainly want that for you. Our health also affects those around us. As mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, partners, spouses, colleagues, and dear friends, we are better able to love and give when we are healthy. Furthermore, our health habits influence others, so when we live healthier lives, they will too. In essence, taking care of ourselves, makes the world a better place. So yes it may be a little strange that I share health tips on a quilting blog but understanding how to live a healthy life has always been such a part of me that I hope you'll find that sharing health tips and quilting tips all fits together.

Happy Quilting and here's to good taking good care of ourselves!

Hi! I'm Jen, a quilt pattern designer and teacher. I founded Snapdragon Quilting in the spring of 2022 in memory of my beloved Grandma Louise, a skilled seamstress and crafter who grew beautiful snapdragons in her garden. I've been sewing for as long as I can remember and began passionately crafting quilts of my own creation in 2006. My quilt patterns bring bold and vibrant designs that blend traditional piecing methods with contemporary techniques. I love to play with color and contrast so you'll find lots of layout and color options in my patterns. Whether you're new to quilting or making your 100th quilt, you're in the right place, because here at Snapdragon Quilting, quilt patterns make sense.
