Lectures
-
Trunk Show: The Stories of Jen's Quilts & the Techniques Behind Them
-
Quilts in Color: How to Apply Color to a Pattern Design. What do you do when you find a quilt pattern you love but don’t necessarily love the colors? In this lecture, I’ll show you how to break down a quilt’s components and put them in grayscale then fill them back in with gorgeous color pallets.
Half Day or Full Day Workshops - I teach all of my patterns so you can pick your favorite! Techniques I teach include curved piecing, foundation paper piecing, raw edge applique, reverse applique, and y seams.
Curved Piecing with Many Moons or Broken Moons:
Learn 3 different techniques for curved piecing and try them all. Then participants can pick their favorite technique to make the rest of their blocks. I also discuss how layout, color, and fabric options change the look of each quilt. The full day workshop adds putting the blocks together and how to assemble a quilt on point. Participants can make Many Moons or Broken Moons, their choice. Limited number of kits are available for Broken Moons.
Skill level: Beginner to advanced quilter
FPP Fundamentals with Hexagon Blocks:
Learn and master foundation paper piecing basics with any of the 3 patterns in this FPP hexagon block series. This workshop covers how to construct simple FPP triangles then use them to make 18 different hexagon blocks. In the full day workshop, I also cover putting the hexagon blocks together with Y seams. For this workshop, participants only need to know how to work a sewing machine and come with an open mind. Participants choose from the three pattern options: Striped Hexi's, Equilateral Gone Awry, or Nuts About You.
Skill level: Beginner to advanced quilter.
Reverse Applique with Mini Moons:
It is possible to create smooth curves even when they're small! In this class I teach participants how to create a round window in the background of a block and fill it with fun fabrics to make a mini quilt. With these half square triangle blocks, we discussed how placement of contrast creates unique designs. Skill level: Confident beginner to advanced quilter.
Two Day Workshop
FPP Fundamentals and Curved Piecing with Exploding Peppermints:
Learn both techniques and combine them into one quilt! This candy inspired holiday quilt also looks great in other colors to make a quilt for any time of the year! Kit available in Kimberbell Cup of Cheer fabrics while supplies last.
Skill level: Confident beginner to advanced quilter.
