Workshops & Lectures

Hi! I’m Jen Wagner, a quilt pattern designer and instructor from Las Vegas, NV, with a background as a women’s health nurse practitioner and certified nurse midwife. After decades of helping women make informed health decisions, I now have the joy of helping quilters create quilts they love. My patterns blend modern and traditional techniques while embracing bold design and vibrant color. Teaching quilters the techniques I use in my patterns—curved piecing, reverse appliqué, and foundation paper piecing—has been incredibly rewarding. I love seeing the moment when everything clicks and they fall in love with the process.

At Snapdragon Quilting, I design quilt patterns, curate gorgeous quilt kits, and stock my favorite notions to make the quilting process smoother and more enjoyable. Our Las Vegas shop brings quilters together for classes, inspiration, and community. I’m honored to work with beautiful fabrics, tools, and threads as a BenartExpert with Benartex, an Oliso Ambassador, and a Threaducator for WonderFil, sharing inspiration, techniques, and tips with quilters everywhere.

Here, you'll find a detailed breakdown of my course offerings with my pricing and accommodation requirements.

If these align with your needs, I would be delighted to bring my expertise and enthusiasm to your audience.

Reach out via email me at Jen@SnapdragonQuilting.com or call at (702) 203-2718 to schedule a booking.

In this engaging lecture, I'll guide you step-by-step through various techniques, including:

Quilts in Color - Transforming Quilt Patterns with Stunning Color Palettes

Have you ever fallen in love with a quilt pattern but not the colors? In this lecture, I'll teach you how to reimagine quilt designs with colors that speak to you. Learn how to break down a quilt's components into grayscale and then bring them to life with beautiful, customized color palettes.

Workshops

Below are my three most requested workshops and each can be taught as a 3-hour or 6-hour class. If another Snapdragon Quilting pattern has captured your group's attention, I'd be happy to tailor a workshop just for your guild or event.

Looking for a retreat workshop?
Some of my patterns are better suited for a longer learning experience. Lunar Luxe, Groovy, and Pamela Mae are ideal for multi-day retreats (3+ days), giving students plenty of time to build skills and make significant progress on their quilts.

Jen will guide you through a unique version of reverse appliqué using a bit of freezer paper and Elmer's glue to achieve perfectly smooth, small curves. And the best part - the seam is hiding! There’s no topstitching or hand stitching involved. I'll walk you through everything you need to make curves easier, faster, and more accurate - no stress, just great results. You'll be using either the Many Moons or Broken Moons quilt pattern (your choice). Both feature large, gentle curves that are ideal for learning.

Discover the Magic of Foundation Paper Piecing

Say goodbye to stretched seams and wonky points! Foundation paper piecing (FPP) gives you accurate blocks and sharp points every time. And better yet, it opens the door to shapes that are tricky to piece traditionally.

In this class, you’ll learn step by step how to master FPP while making stunning hexagon blocks. I’ll walk you through the tools, tips, and techniques that make it all easier—and more fun. Choose your favorite from three unique patterns: Striped Hexi's, Equilateral Gone Awry, or Nuts About You.

Bonus: A special presentation on how to remix and reimagine these blocks for endless design possibilities!
